Visit by the U.S. Ambassador, Joseph A. Mussomeli and H.E Dr. Nuth Sokhom, Minister of Health, to observe the Vit. A. Distribution Campaign at Battambang province.

The U.S. Ambassador Joseph A. Mussomeli and H.E Dr. Nuth Sokhom, Minister of Health visited the Vit.A Distribution Campaign on 27th March at Takrem HealthCenter in PreyPhao Village, at Battambang Province. The Visit was organized by RHAC and the Provincial Health Department. This event was covered by the media- television channel and newspapers.
In his address, Mr.Mussomeli said that “USAID has been working in partnership with the MOH on Vit.A for the past 15 Years and is committed to continuing this collaboration. Much of the success of Vit.A Distribution has been achieved through NGOs_This is the commendable in the short term. For the long term USAID, is committed to developing national capacity to ensure the National Nutrition Program has the ability to provide the necessary leadership to improve the nutritional status of all Cambodians.”
RHAC is awarded a certificate for "Commitment to Quality of Care"
On 9th February 2006, a ceremony was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh, to award a certificate to the Reproductive Health Association of Cambodia (RHAC) in recognition of its "Commitment to Quality of Care".
In 2003, with support from the "Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation", the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) together with a team of international experts and WHO, developed a manual on "Strengthening the Quality of Reproductive Health Care", based on two principal elements namely, "clients’ rights" and "providers’ needs".
This manual was introduced into the IPPF 5 year plan with a view to develop and introduce a system of quality improvement and accreditation, improve the availability and quality of medical and technical information and publications, and improve the competence of service providers through training. The IPPF "Quality of Care"(QOC) program is introduced in 35 Member Associations (MAs).
During the 3 years of QOC program implementation, RHAC received both financial and technical support from IPPF. In early 2006, a team of QOC experts from IPPF Malaysia visited Cambodiato assess the quality of care at RHAC's service delivery points and the management of the organization. As a result of the assessment, RHAC obtained the highest score among the six countries assessed in South East Asia.
The certification ceremony was presided over by Datuk Dr.Raj Karim, Regional Director for IPPF and attended by 104 participants from Donor agencies, UN agencies, Government Organizations and Non Governmental Organizations.
