Community Health Program
By 2015, family planning’s achievement lags behind the CMDG target of 60%.  This calls for effort to address the barriers to increasing FP uptake, especially long-term methods. TB remains a public health concern and a high priority of the Ministry of Health, even though WHO recently declared significant decline in TB incidence in high burden countries, including Cambodia.

Goal/Objective
To address the above-mentioned concerns, RHAC focuses on meeting the unmet need for family planning among women aged 15-49, especially with their improved access to long-term FP method. We also work to contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality due to TB in Cambodia, by promoting community awareness on TB, and increasing access to TB diagnosis service and early TB detection and treatment among Key Affected Population (elderly, close contacts of TB patients, diabetics, and PLHIVs).

Activity
Our program has two main projects: (1) Strengthening Family Planning Program in Public Sector supported by the UNFPA, and (2) Strengthening TB Program in Public Sector supported by the Global Fund. This program is characterized by our effort to promote community health via building bridge between the government health center and the community including villagers, community volunteers, and local authority. Our program has long experience in strengthening the capacity of public health sector, and mobilizing all the sectors at the village and commune levels to use the public health facilities.

Raising awareness and addressing community misconception on FP, as well as strengthening HC midwives’ skills on FP counseling and service provision are amongst our key activities. In close collaboration with Health Centers, Referral Hospitals and Operational Districts, and through our channel of 680 Community Based Distribution (CBD) workers, RHAC continues to implement community-based distribution of FP contraceptives and FP voucher to improve utilization of the family planning services, especially IUDs, in five ODs (Daunkeo, Angroka, Bati, Kirivong, Prey Kabas) in Takeo province.

In addition, we work to fight against TB through our key support interventions including TB enhanced case finding that we provide group education in villages and pagodas, referral of TB suspects especially those in the high risk groups, and implementation of Community Direct Observed Treatment Short course (CDOTS). RHAC is implementing TB program in nine ODs (Memot, Kroach Chmar, Kampong Chhnang, Boribo, Kampong Trolach, Baray Santok, Kampong Thom, Stong, and Soth Nikom) in four provinces (Tbong Khmum, Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, and Siem Reap).
